Jill Giri

DVM
Emergency Veterinarian

A California native, Dr. Giri was born in Los Gatos and developed a lifelong passion for working with animals at an early age.

Dr. Giri earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where she initially planned to pursue a career in the horse breeding industry. While living on the Central Coast, she began working in local veterinary hospitals as a veterinary assistant, an experience that sparked her commitment to veterinary medicine. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis in 2007.

Following graduation, Dr. Giri practiced in Roseburg, Oregon at a busy mixed-animal hospital, providing both general practice and emergency/urgent care for equine and small animal patients. Her career ultimately brought her back to the Central Coast—an area she has always considered home. In 2019, she returned to Arroyo Grande to work in small animal emergency medicine and practiced locally until 2025 before joining the Cerro Alto team in September 2025.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Giri enjoys gardening, hiking, kayaking, baseball, and spending time riding her two horses. When she’s not at the barn, in the garden, or at the beach, she can often be found exploring the area with her three Basset Hounds.
