Yoneko Tamaki

Hospital Manager

A Central Coast native, Yoneko Tamaki brings a deep connection to the communities of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Her path into veterinary medicine began unexpectedly while attending the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, CA. During that time, she started volunteering full-time with a dog rescue—an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for animal care and advocacy.

In 2009, Yoneko officially transitioned into veterinary medicine, starting with an equine practice in Murrieta, CA. Over the past 15 years, she has worked in both emergency and general practice settings, gaining hands-on experience across nearly every role in the hospital—from Kennel Assistant and Veterinary Assistant to Surgical Assistant, Client Service Representative, Supervisor, and Office Manager.

After returning to the Central Coast in 2012, Yoneko joined a local small animal clinic and deepened her involvement through relief work, volunteering with rescue organizations, and speaking at local Career Days to inspire the next generation of veterinary professionals.

Yoneko’s comprehensive understanding of hospital operations, combined with her compassionate leadership style, makes her a driving force behind a positive, collaborative workplace culture. She firmly believes that a strong, engaged team is the foundation of excellent care—for both patients and their people.

When she’s not at the hospital, you’ll find Yoneko rockhounding, hiking with her dog Timber, camping, backpacking, or exploring the natural beauty of the Central Coast she proudly calls home.
